Ian McAvoy to speak at Electric Fleets USA 2026 in Los Angeles.

📅 September 2026 Volterra Technologies

Volterra Technologies CEO Ian McAvoy has been confirmed as a speaker at Electric Fleets USA 2026, taking place in Los Angeles, California this September. The conference is one of North America’s leading forums for transit agency operators, fleet managers, and technology providers navigating the shift to zero-emission vehicle fleets.

The Session

Ian McAvoy will present on battery health intelligence as a missing layer in the transit electrification stack — making the case that fleet operators have invested heavily in hardware but remain underserved when it comes to understanding what is actually happening inside those batteries at the electrochemical level.

“Transit agencies are operating expensive battery assets with surprisingly little visibility into their condition. That gap gets more costly as fleets scale. EVCare™ exists to close it.”

— Ian McAvoy, Co-Founder & CEO, Volterra Technologies

What Attendees Can Expect

  • Why State of Charge readouts from telematics are not a substitute for State of Health intelligence
  • How EVCare™’s three-layer architecture translates electrochemical data into operational guidance without new hardware
  • What EVCare™ is designed to deliver — thermal event detection, fleet availability improvement, and modeled ROI
+12%
Fleet availability (modeled target)
−30%
Unplanned downtime reduction (modeled target)
<8mo
ROI payback on EVCare™ deployment

Transit agency representatives attending are encouraged to schedule a 30-minute meeting with Ian McAvoy at the conference.

🚌 Pilot Discussions · 2026

Volterra advances toward an EVCare™ pilot with a major North American transit agency.

📅 2026 Volterra Technologies

Volterra Technologies is in advanced pilot discussions with a major North American transit agency toward deploying EVCare™ across its Battery Electric Bus fleet — which would mark Volterra’s first commercial deployment with a US transit agency.

The Challenge

As the agency’s BEB fleet scaled, the limitations of general-purpose telematics became operationally significant. Battery health was assessed reactively — issues were discovered after a bus failed or a range shortfall disrupted service — rather than predicted in advance.

The Planned Deployment

  • Weeks 1–2: Integration configuration, data mapping, baseline FitStar™ scores live across the full fleet
  • Weeks 3–8: FleetAccess RX™ and AMS™ dashboards live; first maintenance prescriptions generated
  • Weeks 9–13: Outcomes validated; LPM™ lifecycle forecasts reviewed; ROI model finalised

🎉 Funding · 2025

Volterra Technologies awarded NRC IRAP grant funding to accelerate EVCare™ development.

📅 2025 Volterra Technologies

Volterra Technologies has been awarded funding from NRC IRAP (National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program), Canada’s premier innovation funding program for SMEs. The grant supports accelerated development of EVCare™ and validates Volterra’s position at the intersection of applied electrochemical research and commercial fleet management technology.

How the Funding Will Be Used

  • FitStar™ v5.0 refinement: Expanding the electrochemical parameter set and improving five-domain scoring model accuracy
  • CareStar™ multi-OEM validation: Validating models across additional mixed-OEM BEB platforms
  • IP formalisation: Advancing formal patent applications within Volterra’s comprehensive provisional patent portfolio
